Safe dismantling of a historic railway bridge - Precision meets strength
The more than 100-year-old Beesenland Bridge had to be dismantled due to progressive deterioration in order to prevent a threat to shipping traffic and the important supply flows for the Aurubis company. Krebs Unternehmensgruppe took over the planning and implementation of the demanding project as general contractor.
- Safe dismantling of a 54 m long, 12 m wide and 450 ton bridge from 1908.
- Difficult access to the construction site from both the water and land sides.
- Unknown material reaction: No one could say for sure in advance whether the old bridge structure would withstand the loads during lifting and moving.
The Krebs Unternehmensgruppe developed a viable concept at short notice and implemented the project with the utmost precision.
Holistic solution: From steel construction to transport pontoons, SPMT axles, mobile cranes and documentation, everything was realized from a single source.
- The steel construction workers of our subsidiary KIS are removing the bridge bearings.
- Positioning a pontoon with SPMT axles already attached under the bridge.
- Using the tides to safely raise the bridge.
Relocation of the pontoon and precise handover of the bridge to land using additional SPMT technology. - Safe and timely implementation: The technology worked reliably, the team worked hand in hand – without damage, with the highest level of customer satisfaction.
